When: Sunday, January 28th 2024 – Parade starts at 1PM

Step into the vibrant whirl of Carmen, Cebu’s Sinulog Festival, now lighting up the town on a new date, Sunday, January 28th! This year, the festival breaks tradition, moving from its usual third Sunday slot to the fourth, adding a fresh twist to Carmen’s cultural calendar.

Born from the spirited rhythms and vivid hues of the Ati-Atihan, Carmen’s Sinulog is a spectacle of devotion and celebration in honor of Santo Niño. The festival, which first danced its way into the hearts of the locals in 1973, thanks to Fr. Jose Motus, has since evolved into a grand affair that captivates both the faithful and the festive.

Originally dubbed Ati-Atihan sa Carmen, the festival was rechristened Sinulog sa Carmen in 1974 under the visionary leadership of Mayor Benyong Villamor. This change marked the beginning of a new era, weaving the Sinulog into the fabric of Carmen’s identity.

Join us on January 28th, a week after Cebu City’s grand parade, for a day where the streets of Carmen come alive with the echoes of drums, the grace of dancers, and the vibrant tapestry of Cebuano culture. It’s more than a festival; it’s a day where faith and festivity meet in a dazzling display of Cebu’s enduring spirit.

So mark your new calendars for the fourth Sunday of January, and let’s make history together at this year’s Sinulog sa Carmen. Come for the spectacle, stay for the spirit. Viva Pit Señor! 🎉
